“Out of Many, One Inspiring COVID Response”
In a dynamic virtual collaboration, Citizens Response Jamaica (CRJA) rallied a diverse coalition of Jamaican citizens, including entrepreneurs, engineers, medical professionals, and companies, to support the national health team during the COVID-19 pandemic. This collective effort resulted in donating 372 reusable medical standard gowns and 450 face shields to frontline health workers in July 2021, followed by an additional 50 gowns to Kingston Public and Jubilee Hospitals in early 2022. These contributions, part of a broader patriotic initiative, were locally produced and aligned with urgent appeals from the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA).
CRJA’s partners, including ICD Group Holdings Limited and The MultiCare Youth Foundation, provided essential support in technical expertise and execution. The Inter-American Development Bank’s funding of US$21,000 further bolstered the project’s impact. Despite lockdown challenges, the group collaborated closely with the Ministry of Health to ensure their donations met rigorous medical standards and addressed critical needs. In times of uncertainty, CRJA’s solution-oriented approach exemplified resilience and community spirit, offering hope and support to Jamaicans and beyond.
