The MultiCare Youth Foundation (MYF) has initiated the PriceSmart YUTE Project in collaboration with the US-based PriceSmart Foundation and PriceSmart Jamaica branches in Kingston and Portmore. This project targets 60 urban youth at medium and high risk of involvement in crime and violence. Over 18 months, with a budget of US$147,000, the project will provide Passport to Success™ (PTS) Life and Employability Skills Training to all participants aged 15 to 29. They will also receive mentorship for a year to assist them in achieving personal and career objectives. Twenty youths will undergo vocational training in Customer Service, leading to work certification through the HEART NSTA Trust, while 30 others will receive job placement aid and internships. Additionally, 15 participants will access Transforming Our Perspective (TOP-CBT), a Jamaican version of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Targeting unattached youth near PriceSmart Clubs in Kingston & St. Andrew, and St. Catherine, the program aims to equip them for the workforce and address the needs of PriceSmart Jamaica and the broader job market.
