The BRIDGE Project, short for Building through Reintegration, Intervention, Development, Growth, and Education, aims to curb youth crime and violence effectively by focusing on at-risk individuals aged 15-29 in specific communities. The project emphasises reintegration, positive development, and building protective factors by leveraging partnerships with key stakeholders.
Its objectives include enhancing the socio-economic capacity of at-risk youth, reducing individual risk factors related to crime and violence, and preventing recidivism. The project offers a tailored mix of interventions aligned with four thematic priorities: providing behavioural support for medium to high-risk youth, supporting school reintegration for dropouts or juvenile facility returnees, facilitating skills training and employment opportunities, and addressing community conflict cycles.
Targeting geographical crime hotspots, the project employs a public health approach to violence prevention, focusing on secondary and tertiary prevention: stopping at-risk individuals from becoming offenders or victims and assisting those already involved in crime or victimisation.
