The MultiCare Youth Foundation was honoured to receive the Prime Minister’s Jamaica 55 Medal of Appreciation for Service to Jamaica, recognising its significant contributions to the nation’s economic, social, and cultural advancement. Selected from nominations in the category of Organisations, MYF has been lauded for over two decades of dedicated efforts in transforming lives and fostering opportunities for underserved children and youth across marginalised communities in Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Catherine, and St. James parishes. These efforts encompass critical social, educational, and training intervention programmes that continue to make a profound impact.
The prestigious Jamaica 55 Medal was presented to MYF’s Executive Director, Alicia Glasgow Gentles, during a ceremony at Jamaica House on April 25, 2018. In her remarks, Mrs Glasgow Gentles expressed gratitude for the shared honour with MYF’s anchor donors, including ICD Group Limited, FLOW Foundation, JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation, Caribbean Cement Company Limited, and Fidelity Motors (Nissan).
Additionally, Mrs Glasgow Gentles extended heartfelt appreciation to esteemed supporters such as the Inter-American Development Bank, Culture, Health, Arts, Sports, and Education (CHASE) Fund, Sports Development Foundation, American Friends of Jamaica, and Australian Aid, whose unwavering support has been instrumental in MYF’s success. This recognition underscores MYF’s commitment to creating positive change and empowering Jamaica’s youth, made possible through collaborative partnerships and dedicated efforts towards nation-building.
