MYF Team and Volunteers Read Across Downtown

The MultiCare Youth Foundation (MYF) participated in Read Across Jamaica Day 2019 with the help of staff from Alorica, CGM Gallagher and the ICD Group. Students at four MYF-assisted basic and primary schools, namely High Holborn Street Basic, Holy Family Primary, St. Michael’s Primary and North Street Primary in Downtown Kingston were all smiles and cheers as executives, and other volunteers brought stories alive through the pages of several children’s books.

But the children weren’t the only ones excited.

 

Ms Cecile Smythe, principal at North Street Primary, expressed her appreciation for the support

“Reading maketh a full man, it improves literacy, nourishes intellect and imagination and is the basis for effective learning. Seeing this Foundation, that has contributed to our school in more ways than one show up today to not only read but be a role model for the children was heart-warming,” she said.

Ashleigh Shrouder, Alorica’s Cultural Affairs Representative, also expressed joy for having partnered with MYF for this initiative.

“Alorica’s vision for 2019 is to immerse itself more into the Jamaican culture and participate in initiatives that promote child development in underserved areas. There was no better organisation to partner with but The MultiCare Youth Foundation based on its active relationship and involvement in the underserved schools,” she says.

MYF remains committed to its mission and mandate of enhancing the lives of under-served youth through the delivery of educational and recreational programmes that contribute to their growth and development.
